Cheap new thrills can’t compare with a cup of tea

If it sounds counterintuitive to rejoice at the novelty wearing off, perhaps it's because we confuse getting bored with getting familiar. Indeed, in a culture where novelty is highly prized, the two can easily be thought of as synonyms. But new is not always improved, and old is not always worn out.
